  • Knife and cutting board (for slicing zucchini)
  • Baking sheet (if using the oven)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • For the Dish:
  • 2 medium zucchini sliced lengthwise into 1/2-inch thick "steaks"
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • Optional: Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven or Grill Pan :
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking, or heat a grill pan over medium-high heat if cooking stovetop.
  • Prepare the Zucchini :
  • Slice the zucchini lengthwise into 1/2-inch thick slices. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Brush both sides of the zucchini slices with olive oil or melted butter. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Add the Cheesy Topping :
  • In a small bowl, mix the grated Parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  • Sprinkle the cheese mixture evenly over one side of each zucchini slice, pressing gently to adhere.
  • Cook the Zucchini :
  • Oven Method : Place the zucchini steaks on a baking sheet, cheese-side up. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Stovetop Method : Place the zucchini steaks, cheese-side up, on a preheated grill pan. Cover with a lid or foil and cook for 5–7 minutes per side, or until the cheese is melted and the zucchini is tender.
  • Serve :
  • Transfer the cheesy zucchini steaks to a serving plate. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm as a main dish or side.
